Choosing video thumbnails

Pick the exact poster frame for every clip so no video opens on a blur or a blink.

You'll set intentional poster frames across a whole gallery in a few minutes.

Quick answer

Open a clip in the Design Studio and choose Thumbnail. Aisle suggests strong frames automatically; scrub or step frame-by-frame to pick your own. Poster choices are non-destructive and never alter the video.

Quick steps

  1. 1.Design → select a clip → Thumbnail.
  2. 2.Pick a suggested frame, or scrub and step to your own.
  3. 3.Check the crop previews.
  4. 4.Save, then use Review all thumbnails to audit the gallery.

The poster frame is the first thing a couple judges. Aisle extracts candidate frames in the browser and skips black frames and low-contrast fades, so the suggestions are usable straight away.

Set a poster frame

  1. 1Select the clip in the Live Preview and open Thumbnail.
  2. 2Choose one of the suggested frames, or scrub the bar to get close.
  3. 3Use the frame stepper for single-frame accuracy.
  4. 4Confirm the crop previews look right, then save.

Review all thumbnails shows every clip's poster together so weak frames are obvious. Fix them in place without leaving the audit.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving every clip on the automatic first frame.
  • Picking a frame that crops badly on the grid.

Pro tips

  • Choose a frame with a face and open eyes over a prettier empty landscape.
  • Avoid frames mid-motion — they read as blurry at tile size.

Best practices

  • 1Set the hero clip's poster first — it sets the tone.
  • 2Run the audit as the last step before publishing.
